English for Communication. Theory, Discourse and Practice offers a comprehensive introduction to the ways language functions within contemporary communication. Combining theoretical foundations with practical analysis, the book guides readers through the key concepts that shape how meaning is created, interpreted, and negotiated in English. Starting from classic models of communication and semiotic theory, the volume explores the structure of language, figurative expressions, and the global role of English. It then moves to the analysis of discourse in real contexts, including media communication and multimodal texts, showing how linguistic choices interact with culture, society, and technology. Each chapter includes clear explanations, examples, and activities designed to develop critical awareness and communicative competence.
Bridging theory and practice, this book is an essential resource for students of linguistics, communication studies, and English language learning who wish to understand how English operates as a powerful tool of interaction in a globalized world.
